In Standard format, Colorless Pokémon are known for their ability to be splashed in any deck, often fulfilling a supporting role. Not in Gym Leader Challenge! Colorless is its own type, with its own identity and its own set of strengths that make it unlike any other type in Gym Leader Challenge. With some of the best draw Support, recovery and the unique ability to accelerate Special Energy into play, Colorless can easily play into aggressive or control style strategies, depending on your preferred play style.

Support Pokémon

Cinccino and Bibarel are two of the best draw support Pokémon in Gym Leader Challenge. When they are both set up, you can see up to seven additional cards off the top of your deck per turn! Delcatty is essential for control builds, allowing you to recover resources from your discard pile, while Porygon-Z fulfills the role of Energy accelerator in attacking lists with its fantastic Crazy Code Ability!

Attackers

The best thing about Colorless attackers is that they all attack for any type of Energy, making it so that they can all take advantage of the amazing Special Energy printed over the years. Three Energy attacks can almost always be used for just a couple Energy attachments thanks to Double Turbo Energy and Counter Energy. With Triple Acceleration Energy, even massive attacks like Slaking‘s Critical Move are just an Energy attachment away. The most interesting member of this group is Ditto from Pokémon GO, who can copy the attack of another one of your Basic Pokémon!

Turbo Energize

Colorless boasts the best draw engine in Gym Leader Challenge with Bibarel, Skwovet and Cinccino, *and* sets up consistently thanks to Fan Rotom with the Fan Call Ability. After the Twin Energy and Double Colorless Energy ban, streaming attackers for Colorless gets a little more difficult, but is still possible with Double Turbo Energy, Counter Energy, and Technical Machine: Turbo Energize. You’ll want an extra way to reuse your valuable Double Turbo Energy, so Cyllene is included. You could play Rosanne’s Backup instead if you don’t like flipping coins! With Hop’s Cramorant and Hop’s Snorlax you’ve got one third of your prizes figured out, so you only need to figure out how to take the other two thirds with Snorlax and friends.

Crazy Code

Go crazy with Porygon-Z’s Crazy Code ability, which allows you to rain Special Energy down all over the board. Pair that with Cinccino and Blissey for practically unlimited damage output. When paired with Colorless’s strong consistency engine — Fan Rotom, Skwovet, Oranguru, and Bibarel, getting your stage 2 Porygon-Z into play is a breeze. If you don’t want to flip coins, just drop the Blissey line and Reversal Energy for Hop’s Cramorant, Hop’s Snorlax, and Hop’s Choice Band.

Birds

Who doesn’t love a themed deck? Luckily, all of these birds are really good. Is Fan Rotom a bird, you ask? Don’t worry about it. Dodrio and Pelipper take care of your draw and search support. You have a variety of attackers in Hop’s Cramorant, Talonflame, Toucannon, Lugia, and Swanna, giving you endless options every turn!
